In Cyberpunk 2077, tracking down iconic gear allows players to fully immerse themselves in the lore of Night City. Among the most coveted items is the legendary Malorian Arms 3516, better known as Johnny Silverhand's signature pistol. Securing this exceptionally powerful weapon requires progressing through specific narrative milestones rather than simply exploring the open world.
Complete the Necessary Story Prequels
Before you can seek out the legendary handgun, you must advance the main campaign through Act 2. This requires completing major questlines involving characters like Panam, Judy, and the Voodoo Boys. Once these critical paths converge, a unique transitionary quest titled Tapeworm will automatically trigger at specific intervals.
Paying close attention to your relationship with the rockerboy during these moments is essential for unlocking the next phase. After finishing the final segment of Tapeworm, Johnny will request a favor that alters your tracking schedule. Agreeing to his proposal officially adds the crucial side job to your quest journal.
Initiate the Chippin In Side Mission
The exclusive quest required to secure the pistol is called Chippin' In, which becomes available immediately after your agreement with Johnny. For this mission, you will surrender control of your body temporarily to let Johnny speak with Rogue at the Afterlife. This meeting sets off a chain of investigations leading directly to the location of the gear.
Following Rogue's lead will eventually bring you to the Ebunike, a heavily guarded cargo ship docked in the industrial district. Navigating this dangerous zone requires caution, as Maelstrom gangers guard the area heavily. Sneaking or fighting your way through the docks will lead you to a confrontation with a character named Jeremiah Grayson.
Defeat Grayson and Claim the Malorian Arms 3516
Upon locating Grayson on the ship, a combat encounter will initiate that you must win to proceed. Defeating him allows you to interact with his downed form and retrieve Johnny's prized firearm directly from him. The Malorian Arms 3516 is automatically added to your inventory at this exact point in the mission.
This weapon boasts unique firing animations and a powerful melee flamethrower attack when aiming down sights. Additionally, sparing or eliminating Grayson right after obtaining the gun triggers another choice regarding Johnny's old Porsche 911. Thoroughly completing this sequence ensures you leave the docks with the ultimate rockerboy loadout.
